the-factory is a social design experiment and prototype that addresses the designer's role in solving social challenges and employing their expertise in prototyping and experimentation for the public interest.

the-factory is a pop-up outdoor prototype that transforms into a dynamic and playful workshop space. Designed for social engagements in neighbourhoods, It can fold and unfold into a workshop, a library, or a playful space. The pop-up nature of the product also makes it ideal for facilitating collaborative and co-creation processes without the commitment of permanent structures. the-factory can be for community groups, public administrations, civil society organisations, schools, and cultural centers. The idea started in 2017 while working on urban engagement and public space interventions internationally and it has developed through my current work on placemaking and public engagement in Helsingborg, Sweden.

Operating within public environments necessitates agility, portability, and adaptiveness. A mobile 'Factory' empowers facilitators to foster interactive dialogue and engagement. It skilfully merges functionality and attraction, functioning as a versatile tool that houses necessary resources and seamlessly transforms into a public forum.
